Singer-songwriter-guitarist Greg Loiacono didn’t cheat himself on his debut solo album.

It’s as if the Mother Hips co-founder tried everything he’d ever wanted to put on a record on “Songs from a Golden Dream.” He soared into psychedelia with the sitar sounds of “I Can’t be Your Anything” and the twangy “Away from the Stones,” with its acid-trippy lead guitar break. And he nodded to the pretension of a concept album on a trio of tracks, each called “The Red Thread,” that form a kind of beginning, middle and end to this ambitious collection of 11 original songs.
